General

Singapore is very small city-state with a huge economy. It is one of the most modern and developed cities in Southeast Asia, making it a center for trade and business. The country is a unique melting pot of cultures, religions, languages, and ethnicities, which has allowed Singapore to become an incredibly diverse place. It’s cosmopolitan make-up attracts companies and individuals from around the world. The tiny nation’s dedication to cleanliness, safety, and environmentalism help it stand out as a top-traveled global destination. Overtime, Singapore has become known for its luxurious shopping and internationally-infused dining options, but manages to remain quintessentially Singaporean.

Transportation & Accommodation

The country’s small size has allowed for an efficient transportation system to be developed. Most Singaporean and visitors use the MRT train system to easily access different parts of the island and pay their fare using a rechargeable EZ-link Card. However, buses are also commonly utilized and are inexpensive. Taxis fare can add up quickly, but taxi drivers are very kind and professional in Singapore. Unlike some neighboring nations, Singapore’s taxi drivers have a solid reputation for their service.

If you’re visiting Singapore, you will more than likely fly into Changi Airport on the island’s eastern side. Ranked as the best airport in the world, it feature world-class dining and shopping options, as well as garden features, lounges, and art displays. Many people arrive to the airport early to enjoy the services before departing.

Accommodation in Singapore tends to be expensive due to the island’s population density and lack of space. For budget travelers, hostels in Chinatown tend to be the best price for their location. If you’re looking to live on the luxurious side, Marina Bay Sands is the best place to stay because of it’s world-famous infinity pool that overlooks the cityscape from 55-floor up.

The two monsoonal weather patterns coming from north and south create special rainy seasons, but the temperature generally stays about the same most of the year. November through January are the wettest months with December usually exhibiting the highest amount of precipitation. June, July, and August tend to be dry, but very busy as it is also peak season. Although a bit warm and wet, February through May is a great time to visit outside peak season and offers the best weather for outdoor activities.
